What does your child gain from attending The Camp of Champions?
Instruction. The Camp of Champions excels in the instruction of football technique for all football groups and positions. The La Habra High School assistant football coaches and players will head each of their specialized position groups to teach them essential football fundamentals. We pride ourselves in our low camper-to-coach ratio to assure that your child is receiving the proper coaching. Your child will leave The Camp of Champions with a new sense of confidence as a result of their newly acquired skills and fundamentals, and they will have had an absolutely wonderful time doing so!
Facilities. The Camp of Champions has full access to all of La Habra's state-of-the-art facilities. Camp sessions will be conducted in La Habra High School's stadium, various football practice fields, weight rooms, locker rooms, and lecture halls.
Weight and StrengthTraining. The Camp of Champions is proud to be associated with Athletes Quest and Speed 101. We believe that it is of great importance to correctly instruct our young athletes in the proper techniques of weight and strength training. Campers will learn how to properly handle weights and will be conditioned by our staff of professionals. All activities are conducted under strict supervision. The youth camp will provide campers with the opportunity to learn techniques that have been proven to yield maximum results in the areas of weight training, core training, and conditioning. The more experienced campers will learn two "Olympic" lifts that will prepare them for junior high and high school sports. These activities will be taught in La Habra High School's beautiful brand new state-of-the-art weight room. Our campers will all go through a carefully designed core training series using tires, jelly balls, and other new methods of training. Our novice campers will not be asked to do any lifts but will be conditioned through an instructor led core strengthening program. However, they will still be asked to visit the weight room to be introduced to a series of beginning core training exercises. Training for all campers will consist of proper lifting techniques, core/pillar training, plyometrics, balance training, and most importantly positive reinforcement.
Speed Training, Flexibility, Form Running, and Sprint Technique. One of our most popular segments at camp is the form running and speed training program. Coach Verdugo of Speed 101 and Coach Robinson of Athletes Quest will help campers reach their maximum potential in running ability as well as in flexibility. All campers will be instructed in proper running mechanics, quick first step speed, maximum running speed, resistance running, speed ladder drills, agility training, functional strength, and flexibility. Many campers have experienced a noticeable increase in speed and flexibility after attending our camp!
Coach Matt Robinson, Director of Athletes Quest, and Coach Verdugo, Director of Speed 101, will be conducting the speed and strength program. Together they have constructed a program of the highest caliber for our campers. Coach Robinson has trained some of the top athletes in the county for the past ten years and has been recently hired to train Orange Lutheran's 2010 varsity football team. Coach Verdugo has also trained some of the top athletes in the county. Coach Verdugo's speed training program has brought 5 CIF titles to the La Habra High School program.
Inspirational Talks. Our staff here at The Camp of Champions will provide positive reinforcement and motivational support to your child. Campers will be reminded of the positive steps they have taken to better themselves at the sport that they have dedicated themselves to. Campers will meet in our Lecture Hall to hear inspirational lectures given by Frank Mazzotta, Head Coach of the CIF champion La Habra football team, about what it takes to become a champion.
Highlight Videos. 2009 La Habra Football highlights along with NFL season highlights of the past year will be shown in the lecture hall immediately after Coach Mazzota's Chalk Talk.
Other Benefits. Each camper will receive a "Camp of Champions" t-shirt and cleat bag. Everyone will be able to purchase "Camp of Champions" football camp apparel, as well as LHHS football apparel. Campers will be interacting with other campers from all over Southern California. Campers will be placed on teams for competitions in a 6-on-6 flag football game. Campers and families will have food and drinks available to purchase at these events.
Above all and most importantly, your child will leave The Camp of Champions with a newly acquired sense of confidence in themselves and in their ability to play football at a higher level!
